The Woodbury Historical Society holds a substantial microfilm collection of local history that is available for public research. We are also equipped with a microfilm reader that is capable of capturing and printing specific sections of materials preserved on the microfilm. Our materials in this category are broken down into three categories: Newspapers (In Blue): We hold a comprehensive collection of newspapers from approximately 1894 to 1937 from rare publications such as the Central Highlands Record (Central Valley), Cornwall Press, Cornwall Local, and Cornwall Record. We also have a consecutive collection of editions from The Photo News preserved on microfilm from 1979-1994. Business Ledgers (In Orange): A few of our business ledgers are preserved in microfilm format, specifically, two editions from the Gregory and Shuit families respectively extend with records well back into the nineteenth century. Government Records (In Green): Many municipal records from Woodbury are preserved on microfilm, which include birth records, death records, burial files, and minutes from the town board, planning board, zoning board, fire district, parks department, and other town departments. You are welcome to view a full index of our microfilm HERE. If you wish to research our microfilm collections, we politely ask that you email us in advance to specify what reels you wish to research. Microfilm is very fragile, and we wish to ensure that a reel is prepared for viewing safely in time for your visit.
