Local History Library

Our local history library contains more than 350 books—some of which are nearly 200 years old. They are all valuable references for either comparing information with our primary sources or for the enjoyment of those wishing to learn more about our rich past. Though our books are not permitted to leave our building, they are always open to visitors or those who make research appointments.

Today, the Woodbury Historical Society contains books on topics ranging from:
Books on Woodbury’s History, People, Businesses, and Organizations
Books on Orange County History and Orange County Towns.

Books on New York State History

Revolutionary War/Civil War Literature Collection

An Extensive Genealogy Library of both Local Families and Family Research Techniques

Multiple Journal Collections, including the Orange County Historical Society and Genealogical Society Journals

Please CLICK HERE to see our listing of books in our library. When using our database, press ctrl+f to find specific listings. If you need more information or would like to make an appointment for research, please call town historian Leslie Rose at (845) 928-6770 or email woodbury1889@optonline.net.

Special thanks to MWHS alum and intern Kayden Manson, who compiled this database during the summer 2024 season.
